Disclaimer: I know travel is a privilege. I am so grateful to be able to do it

" . . . I want what  this trip gave me to be what I live for daily. I want to keep traveling and keep learning about the purpose of life and love."

This is what I wrote at the end of my last journal entry for my trip to Albania. After that amazing and spontaneous visit to the city of Shkoder, I've come down with a strong case of wanderlust. It was earlier in 2025 when I went and I had just turned 19. It felt like a right of passage to travel alone to a foreign country for the first time. I learned a lot about myself as I enjoyed experiences like walking through the mountains of Theth alone, many firsts in the safety of my own accord, and meeting people I'll always remember. Not to mention that sense of freedom that took over when I'd take a second to breathe in a place that was new to me. All of these experiences were once uncharted territory; unknown and enigmatic to me.

Enigmatic:

difficult to interpret or understand; mysterious

I had chosen Albania without reason on a 'volunteer away' site called Worldpackers. I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted out of that three week trip. I wasn’t entirely sure why I was going. But I knew I had to go somewhere, anywhere, and I trusted that it was something meant to happen. I had this drive to explore something, take in something bigger than myself, to escape into something so I could find what's waiting there. What I found was beyond what I was expecting. Just the sheer independence of traveling alone, the humbling feeling of being in the mountains connecting with God and nature, and learning about the purpose of life and love as you delve into conversation with others on the same path. . . What I found was once a mystery to me and there are so many more to discover.

As I continue my searches and travels I want to dive into the reasons, the purposes and the adventures that surrender the words to express the beauty of an enigmatic life

Life lessons and adventure come when an enigmatic and uncomfortable journey has started.
